Kalani Pe‘a’s Hawaiian Christmas Show

The Grammy winner’s third annual Christmas show will feature kumu hula Olana Ai, Natalie Ai Kamauu, kumu hula Shelsea Ai, Hālau Lilia Makanoe, Starr Kalāhiki and 24-VII Danceforce; hosted by Mele Apana. Pe‘a’s fifth album, Kuini, came out this summer and pays tribute to the women who shaped his life.

VOLUNTEER

Sanctuary Ocean Count

Wednesday, Jan. 25, 8 a.m. to noon

Help keep tabs on our seasonal underwater friends during peak whale season. Volunteers gather at sites around the Islands to monitor whale behavior, such as breaching. Their efforts help the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary study the animals. Registration for the event opens Jan. 6. There will be other counts on Feb. 22 and March 29.
