Early in his medical career, Dr. Wong was working in an emergency room when a patient went into cardiac arrest. He watched in awe as the attending doctor remained calm and logical when faced with a life-or-death situation. This experience led Dr. Wong to not only specialize in cardiology, but also to emulate how this physician practiced medicine. In his over 30 years of experience in cardiology, Dr. Wong has done just that. His patients note that he is caring, thorough, and an excellent listener and communicator. At Heart + Vein Hawaii, the goal of Dr. Wong and his dedicated team is to make a difference in every patient’s life. Heart + Vein Hawaii provides on-site, easy-to-schedule cardiovascular testing, encompassing electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, treadmill stress assessments, carotid artery ultrasounds, lower extremity arterial ultrasounds, and venous ultrasounds. It operates three locations on O‘ahu in Honolulu, Kailua, and Waipahu, and two on Maui in Kīhei and Kulamalu. The clinic is also renowned for being the state’s most comprehensive vein disorder treatment center. Treatment modalities for venous disorders encompass endovascular radiofrequency ablation, VenaSeal, Clarivein, compression stockings, ultrasound examinations, microphlebectomy, sclerotherapy, and laser therapy. Dr. Wong graduated from the University of Otago Dunedin Medical School in New Zealand, where he is originally from. He completed his internal medicine and cardiology training at the University of Hawai‘i and the University of Nevada, respectively, with board certifications in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He is also certified by The American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine and has been caring for patients in Hawai‘i since 1994. Heart + Vein Hawaii is excited to welcome new cardiac and vein patients on Maui and O‘ahu this year.
