O‘ahu has no shortage of exciting Halloween events, but there is only one that invites our community to celebrate the profound bond we share with our beloved pets while raising funds for our island’s animals in need. We invite you to join us for the Hawaiian Humane Society’s 33rd annual PetWalk presented by Subaru Hawai‘i at Kapi‘olani Regional Park this Saturday, Oct. 28, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.!
This year’s PetWalk will include a 1.8-mile walk and 5K fun run around the park beginning at the bandstand, a variety of vendors and the return of the wildly popular Howl-o-ween Costume Contest for pets and people presented by the Josypenko ‘Ohana. The Hawai‘i Wiener Derby will be joining the festivities this year, and talented local comedian, Island Magic Mike, will be emceeing the event.

Both Hawaiian Humane’s Mō‘ili‘ili Campus and Kosasa Family Campus at Ho‘opili will be closed so our staff, friends and family can join us for this exciting event. For those looking to add a furry family member to their ‘ohana, we will be bringing adoptable pets with us to PetWalk with onsite adoptions available from 8 to 11:30 a.m.
There’s still time to register your own individual or team fundraising page online. Each registrant will receive an exclusive Eden in Love x Hawaiian Humane Society PetWalk 2023 tote bag. Once registered, participants are encouraged to invite ‘ohana, friends and colleagues to join their team or donate to their fundraising efforts. Day-of registrations will also be available for $25.
PetWalk is more than just a stroll in the park with your furry family members. It plays a pivotal role in supporting the welfare of animals throughout our island. With its festive blend of fun and charitable giving, PetWalk celebrates our love for animals while raising critical funds to support the Hawaiian Humane Society’s mission to promote the human-animal bond and the humane treatment of all animals. This vital work supports:
- More than 12,000 animals welcomed into our shelter annually
- More than 1,800 lost pets reunited with their families
- More than 31,000 health exams performed by our skilled veterinary services team
- More than 15,000 animals spayed/neutered to help curb pet overpopulation
- More than 7,000 animals adopted into loving homes
- More than 5,000 calls for service
- More than 52,000 pounds of food distributed by our Pet Food Bank
- Nearly 4,000 people served by our Pet Visitation program
- More than 15,000 adults and youth benefited from our educational programming
By participating, fundraising or sponsoring, you become an essential part of this mission. We look forward to seeing you and your ‘ohana there!
