With Honolulu Pride just a month away, we have the biggest privilege and opportunity to honor this year’s theme of “Homecoming” with Festival Headliner and Parade Grand Marshal, Sasha Colby. Colby is far more than just a drag queen performer; she stands as a trailblazing icon within the American drag scene, a proud representative of the māhū community and a shining star whose influence has left an indelible mark on the vibrant landscape of drag performance.
Hailing from Waimānalo on the island of O‘ahu, Colby has embraced her identity as māhū, infusing the world of drag with a unique, culturally rich dimension. Her journey through the realm of drag has been nothing short of extraordinary, earning her the well-deserved reputation as a legend in the American drag industry.

One of the pivotal moments that catapulted Sasha into the upper echelons of drag was her triumphant victory in the prestigious Miss Continental competition in 2012. This coveted title not only showcased her exceptional talent and artistry but also solidified her status as a formidable presence on the drag stage.
Yet Sasha’s impact transcends her crowning achievements. For more than a decade, she has served as a beacon of empowerment for both the drag, trans and māhū communities. Her very presence radiates confidence, resilience and authenticity, inspiring countless individuals to embrace their true selves and pursue their dreams with unwavering determination. In a historic and groundbreaking moment for RuPaul’s Drag Race, Sasha Colby emerged as the reigning champion of Season 15. Her victory was not only a personal triumph but also a monumental milestone in the show’s history as she became the first Native Hawaiian and māhū contestant to claim the crown. This groundbreaking achievement shattered barriers, sending a resounding message of inclusivity and representation throughout the entire drag world.
Today, just five months after her triumphant moment on RuPaul’s Drag Race, we are thrilled to welcome Sasha Colby back as Grand Marshal to celebrate her remarkable accomplishments.
