In 1984, the captivating voices of Nalani Jenkins, Lehua Kalima and Angela Morales, otherwise known as Nā Leo Pilimehana, became household names by winning the Brown Bags to Stardom contest with their hit song “Local Boys” and recording the single a year later.

The song launched their career and the rest, as they say, is history. Since then, the group has achieved more than 20 number-one hits and two national top-25 songs, released more than 24 CDs and received 24 Nā Hōkū Hanohano Awards.

Their recent appearance in Waikīkī at Halekulani’s House Without a Key marked not only a celebration of their enduring career but also honored the 25th anniversary of PBS Hawai‘i’s Nā Mele program. Join us on Sunday, June 9, as we commemorate both of these milestones with a special program featuring Nā Leo Pilimehana, surprise guests and a heartfelt tribute to Hawai‘i’s musical traditions. We invite you to be part of this memorable event as we share this special program on broadcast and via livestream.
